Not got a problem with it in principle with this jihadist free for all but it should be for treachery against the British state and not bound up with opposition to the crown/monarchy.

Re: Parliament to consider re-introducing the Treason Act
That's presuming the state would never 'turn' on its own.

I'm not going all Ronald antly, just saying at some point in the future it's not impossible.

It depends on the wording and how it's implemented.

Re: Parliament to consider re-introducing the Treason Act
Thought the wording would be easy

Any British Citizen or Resident fighting for a foreign army or organisation against British or Nato forces or British Interests

Oh good. Does that mean we get to enjoy public hangings?

Re: Parliament to consider re-introducing the Treason Act
Should hopefully include incitement to get others to fight against British forces or Interest

Galloway , Chaudray and the ginger geezer to be hanged

Re: Parliament to consider re-introducing the Treason Act
I have a philosophical problem with my Government's (and more particularly those of a privileged unelected family) enemy automatically being my enemy.

For these Jihadists there must be other existing laws under which they can be prosecuted. Talk of treason laws is simply playing to the gallery.

Yeah, bring it on.

When did they take it away?

Thought all these old laws like the Prince of Wales being able to hang people who had a go on Mrs Prince of Wales were still on the books.
Not a problem now but they would have had to hire Wembley stadium for the multiple scaffolds when Diana was about.

Re: Parliament to consider re-introducing the Treason Act
How in this day and age, when no oaths are taken and no fealty required, with so many having dual nationality can you even think of introducing a treason law just because a person happens to be born on this bit of dirt ?

Surely its better to try and solve the issues that lead to disenfranchised young 'uns wanting to harm the state?

As for the 'fighting of the British Forces'...Wait til they turn the forces against the populace of this country. Think it wont happen in this country? Check the history books, then see if you still want a treason law.

Are the medieval Islamic fundamentalists dragging us Dow to their level?

Re: Parliament to consider re-introducing the Treason Act
It's quite simple, if we give you shelter in this country and accept that we will defend you against any enemy, then if you turn against us, we charge you with treason, it doesn't have to be anything to do with the monarchy at all

What enemy do you personally need defending from?

None other than the ones your state has created.

Re: Parliament to consider re-introducing the Treason Act

This bit of dirt? Don't you mean...

This royal throne of kings, this sceptred isle,
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
This other Eden, demi-paradise,
This fortress built by Nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war,
This happy breed of men, this little world,
This precious stone set in the silver sea,
Which serves it in the office of a wall,
Or as a moat defensive to a house,
Against the envy of less happier lands,
This blessed plot, this earth, this realm this England....

Depends who controls the state, the enemy could be you and your English democrat co-conspirators at some point in the future.
